From Dallas, I wrote a Love Letter to Cambridge, and Cambridge’s Newspaper published it!
/Hello, Voyagers!
I wanted y’all to see the the essay I wrote for the Cambridge newspaper for their series, “A Love Letter to Cambridge.”
No, this voyage wasn’t perfect, but, from our place here in Dallas, I am cherishing the memories we made in such a short period of time. And it is still ongoing, with our kitchen table in Dallas turned into my office, with a view of the city instead of the river.
It is a bit surreal, trying to research on the Cambridge library web sites, and writing papers to submit on crime and violence, referencing theories of crime and deviance that I learned at Cambridge, with the Dallas skyline as my backdrop. I can’t believe I actually miss the basement of the Crim building, but such is life.
And, if course, I miss my friends, meeting with them at the MCR, eating lunch, the formal dinners and wine tastings. Though I have spoken to my friends, and zoomed with some of them, we still miss our trips to the Granta, with this as our view:
Okay, that’s it for now. Enough reminiscing. Time to pull on my big-girl undies and get to work. At some point I gotta actually write that dissertation. Wish me luck!
Stay sane and healthy in these strange times, Voyagers. And stay Veracious.
