I know we have other things to chat about these days, bigger problems to address, world issues to solve. But, as long as we are working from home and having video meetings for the foreseeable future, it seems like we could address some basic makeup tips, which won’t take you long to do but give you a bit of confidence when you set up that web cam.

Not too much, not too little.

So, that meeting is happening in about 6 minutes? Then you got time for:

Skin: Benefit stick foundation blends and covers like a dream. Also, a darker foundation stick can be used along and underneath cheekbones, and doubles as a bronzer and covers flaws while providing contouring.

Eyes: Always Sharp from Smashbox for waterline and Kat von D Tattoo liner for your top lid, with the lovely Lancôme Kitten Heal neutral but a bit shimmery eyeshadow all over lids, Lancôme mascara, Urban Decay brow color

Follow all of this with HD powder from Makeup Forever all over your face, including eyelids. You don’t want to literally shine while you shine at work!

And, of course, Kat Von D lipcolor. I love the shade Lolita:

Lolita. The prettiest shade of all.

Finally, ALWAYS reach for the lip gloss (MAC’s Oh Baby and Nymphette are easy, gorgeous colors that flatter every skin shade) ‘cause you can always apply it on the run to your “home office” closet/hallway/kitchen table. And keep it near you so you can reapply when you’re sitting by your computer.

Yes, I know. I have a problem. You don’t need to pocket all 50 glosses.

The less time you have, eliminate one or two products at a time, and when really crunched, use waterproof mascara to double as eyeliner smudged underneath your eye, brow color, and replace your morning moisturizer with tinted moisturizer from Laura Mercier.

The most basic, you need 4 items: waterproof mascara, brow color, tinted moisturizer, & lip color.

Finally, if you know you’ll have zero time to get ready in the morning, then the night before, get out your makeup and pre-apply your products to their brushes (the ones from I.T. Cosmetics are awesome). That’ll save you a good 90 seconds of fumbling around trying to find the right brush.

You’re all set to do that Zoom. Be sure to set your laptop or Ipad up high so you get the most flattering angle. This portable stand-up desk from Wayfair is useful for that, too, as you can sit in your comfy chair and it makes the camera higher than you!
